As the editor-in-chief of a travel magazine, I have had the privilege of introducing half of Japan’s 47 prefectures to our readers.
Throughout my journeys across this land, what has struck me most profoundly is the breathtakingly beautiful regional culture, nurtured by a long and rich history, that continues to thrive in every corner of the country.
Of course, within the pages of our magazine, we often find ourselves focusing on the “front door” aspects – the famous tourist destinations and trending spots.
However, the regional cultures of Japan, which I hold so dear, are far more than mere tourist resources. They are, in my belief, the true treasures of this nation.
Stepping slightly outside my usual professional scope, I would like to share with you the allure of these unique regional cultures that personally captivate me.
Understanding the distinct characteristics of a region is not only a sign of deep respect for others, particularly in business settings and casual interactions, but it also becomes invaluable knowledge and a form of cultural enrichment that benefits everyone involved.
We are now halfway through this journey. I sincerely hope you will continue to accompany me until the end.
