As an American consultant, I feel compelled to sound the alarm regarding the so-called soaring price of rice in Japan.
Why is it that my beloved Japanese society is in such an uproar over the “sharp increase” in rice prices?
Having lived in this country for many years, I can’t help but tilt my head in bewilderment at the commotion.
Surely, a level-headed Japanese person must feel the same way.
The biased reporting of outdated media is beyond discussion, but the current situation, where even social media lacks substantive debate, deeply concerns me.
I believe it’s time to cultivate “discernment.” Shouldn’t the Japanese people, who are supposed to possess high EQ (Emotional Quotient), take a moment to deeply recognize the sometimes-perplexing thinking and problem-posing they exhibit?
Unlike commentators chasing fleeting attention or influencers cherry-picking arguments, I simply and sincerely implore the people of Japan, whom I deeply admire, to engage in discussion from a calm and rational perspective.
First and foremost, do we truly understand the price of a bowl of rice?
