The Middle East tensions that began with Israel’s attack on Iran on June 13 reached a ceasefire within 12 days following the US airstrike on Iran’s nuclear facilities on June 21.
CNN reported on June 27 that the Trump administration was in secret discussions with Gulf partners, exploring proposals including:
(1) an estimated $20-30 billion investment by Arab countries in a new Iranian non-enrichment nuclear program for civilian energy purposes,
(2) potentially removing some US sanctions on Iran, and
(3) allowing Tehran to access the $6 billion currently sitting in foreign bank accounts that it is restricted from freely using.
